Thursday, July 3, 2025, the S1 Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang (PBJ) study programme at Unsoed initiated a collaboration with partner PT. Saitama Japanese Language School, a Job Training Institution (LPK) which also serves as a Sending Organization (SO) in Cilacap, Central Java.
During this collaboration initiation visit, the PBJ study programme was represented by Dian Bayu Firmansyah, S.Pd., M.Pd., who also serves as a representative of the FIB International Collaboration (KLN) team, and Exwan Andriyan Verrysaputro, S.Pd., M.Pd., who also serves as a representative of the FIB Domestic Collaboration (KDN) team. The representatives of the PBJ study programme were received directly by the director of PT. Saitama Japanese Language School, Mr. Dama Yuniar Lapanda.
During the collaboration initiation visit, several agreements were reached which will be drafted into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between both parties, namely: collaboration in implementing overseas internship activities and domestic internships for PBJ study programme students as teaching staff at PT. Saitama Japanese Language School. The overseas internship program to be implemented operates in the hotel & resort sector, where PBJ Unsoed students will work as hotel staff, supporting the study programme’s Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPL) in the fields of Educational Consulting and Edupreneurship. Mr. Dama, as the managing director, stated that, ”The process of dispatching internship students will be carried out with the principle of prudence to ensure the smooth running of the learning program through MBKM activities undertaken by students, so as not to violate applicable regulations”, he said, adding that this is the first experience for PT. Saitama Japanese Language School in sending internship students. Echoing this, Bayu sensei, who is also in charge of the Overseas Students Internship Program (OSIP) at FIB, expressed his agreement and said: ”The vision of PT. Saitama Japanese Language School is in line with the spirit of the PBJ study programme to support students’ right to learn outside the classroom, which is of high quality and not just limited to sending students to work in Japan without any improvement in student competence”. Therefore, a transparent mechanism is needed in the selection process as well as the monitoring and evaluation of the internship collaboration agreement, said Bayu sensei.
On that occasion, collaboration was also agreed upon for domestic internship activities, prompted by the partner’s difficulty in finding qualified Japanese language teaching staff with good Japanese teaching skills. This opportunity was welcomed by the PBJ study programme by proposing that PBJ students could later intern as teaching staff at PT. Saitama Japanese Language School, to practice their skills as educators after being equipped with various pedagogical knowledge during lectures. “PBJ students have been equipped with knowledge and skills as educators since their early semesters, so they do not only master Japanese language skills but also the skills to transfer that Japanese language knowledge to students using innovative teaching methods”, said Bayu sensei. PT. Saitama Japanese Language School also showed high interest in the internship collaboration offer and is ready to facilitate it by contributing in kind. Exwan sensei, as a representative of the KDN team, stated that: ”The Form of Learning Activity (BKP) in the form of internship activities as teaching staff will be drafted in a separate domestic Cooperation Agreement (PKS) from the overseas internship activities, to make it more detailed and maximized in its implementation”, he said.
During the occasion, the representatives of the PBJ study programme were also given the opportunity to tour the facilities and infrastructure owned by the partner, and also had the opportunity to directly observe the Japanese language learning process at PT. Saitama Japanese Language School.
Hopefully, this collaboration will further open up opportunities for PBJ Unsoed students to develop their competence, in accordance with the graduate profile established by the study programme.
