Purwokerto (12/11/2025) — The Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang (PBJ) study programme of the Fakultas Ilmu Budaya (FIB) Universitas Jenderal Soedirman held a Practicum Lecture with the theme “Web-Based Gamification Using Genially”. This activity served as a new learning space for students to get closer to the concept of gamification, which is increasingly needed in the world of education.
The lecture was officially opened by the Dekan FIB Unsoed, Prof. Dr. Ely Triasih Rahayu, S.S., M.Hum., who emphasized the importance of utilizing digital technology in the teaching and learning process. “Gamification can create a learning environment that is more interactive, fun, and at the same time capable of increasing student creativity,” said the professor of sociolinguistics in her remarks.
Also present were all PBJ lecturers, showing full support for strengthening student competence, especially in the development of digital learning media.
The practicum lecture featured Ngatifudin, S.Pd., a media developer from the Balai Teknologi Komunikasi dan Pendidikan (BTKP), as the speaker. He introduced the features of Genially, a creative platform for making interactive media and educational games. Students were guided to understand the concepts, practice, and effective tips in designing web-based learning games.
Taking place in the Aula Bambang Lelono FIB Unsoed, the activity was attended by 160 students of PBJ. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from the many questions and discussions that arose during the session. The classroom atmosphere became more lively when students directly tried out Genially’s features on their respective devices.
This activity also supports the strengthening of PBJ’s vision in the field of edupreneurship, which is to encourage students to be able to create innovative and useful learning media products. At the end of the lecture, students were given an assignment to create an educational game based on Genially as a form of application of the material learned.
With the holding of this activity, PBJ FIB Unsoed further strengthens its commitment to delivering learning that is adaptive, creative, and relevant to current educational technology developments.
