Digos City, Philippines-18/09/2025–Fakultas Ilmu Budaya (FIB) Universitas Jenderal Soedirman continues to expand its international cooperation network through various academic and non-academic programs. On September 18, 2025, the Tim Kerja Sama Luar Negeri (KLN) FIB UNSOED attended a meeting to finalize the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) or Perjanjian Kerja Sama (PKS) documents with the Department of Education Division Digos City and the Department of Education Division Davao del Sur, Philippines.

In the meeting held in the Philippines, FIB UNSOED was represented by representatives from the Sastra Inggris cooperation team and the Secretary of the Tim KLN FIB UNSOED, Ririn Kurnia Trisnawati. The main agenda of the meeting focused on aligning the collaborative programs to be implemented together by the two partner educational institutions between the Philippines and Indonesia.
The coordination meeting resulted in several key points that align with the vision and mission of both parties. The agreed forms of collaboration cover three main areas, namely research and development, international collaborative activities, and scholarship opportunities.
In the field of research and development, cooperation will be realized through research collaboration, presentations of research findings, and joint publications. This opportunity is widely open for teachers under the auspices of the Education Divisions in both cities to collaborate with lecturers from FIB UNSOED. Meanwhile, in the realm of international collaborative activities, the designed programs include international community service, visiting lecturers exchange, students’ immersion programs, as well as organizing national conferences or seminars. In addition, the cooperation also includes benchmarking activities to share best practices between institutions. As for the scholarship sector, UNSOED, through the KNB Scholarship and JSS (Jenderal Soedirman Scholarship) programs, opens opportunities for high school graduates in both cities in the Philippines to obtain opportunities to continue their studies at both undergraduate and master’s levels within Universitas Jenderal Soedirman.

This cooperation will benefit various parties in both countries. On the UNSOED side, lecturers and students of FIB will obtain broader opportunities to develop research, international community service activities, teaching and learning in an international atmosphere, as well as enriching cross-cultural academic experiences. Meanwhile, on the Philippine side, high school students who have special foreign language programs (Japanese, Mandarin, and English) will gain a deeper cross-country learning experience, while their teachers will have the opportunity to expand their pedagogical insights through collaborative activities and sharing of best practices.
The finalization of these MoA/PKS documents is a strategic step in strengthening the role of FIB UNSOED as a faculty that actively builds international collaboration. This cooperation is expected not only to enrich the academic experience of the academic community and students in the Philippines, but also to encourage the development of the quality of education, research, and community service across countries. The follow-up to the finalization of these PKS documents is the signing of the PKS which will be conducted online in October 2025.
