Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Microteaching laboratory of Fakultas Ilmu Budaya (FIB) Unsoed, the Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang (PBJ) study programme held a workshop on Marugoto teaching materials based on the Can Do standards. Present as the speaker for the workshop was Minako Kadoi, M.A., a Japanese Language Expert from The Japan Foundation (JF), who delivered material regarding the use of Marugoto teaching materials and also conducted a teaching simulation using Marugoto teaching materials.
This workshop is a concrete manifestation of the PBJ study programme’s commitment to improving the quality of Japanese language learning, particularly in implementing the Outcome Based Education (OBE) curriculum. In her presentation, Kadoi sensei stated that: ”The Marugoto teaching materials with Can Do standards are designed based on the theory of Second Language Acquisition (SLA), so they are highly focused on learning outcomes, namely the ability to communicate using Japanese in various daily life contexts”.

All lecturers of the PBJ study programme participated in the workshop enthusiastically and engaged in many discussions with Kadoi sensei as the speaker, especially regarding the use of Marugoto teaching materials which will be implemented in the PBJ study programme starting from the 3rd (third) year of the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year.
Many positive things were gained from this workshop, particularly in the development of curriculum and quality learning in the PBJ study programme. This workshop activity also marks the close collaboration between the PBJ study programme and JF as one of the leading study programmes in the field of Japanese language learning and teaching.
