Makassar, August 9, 2025 – Two lecturers from the Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang study programme at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman have once again achieved recognition in the international academic arena. In 2025, they participated as presenters in The 7th International Conference on Japanese Studies, Language and Education (ICJSLE), a prestigious conference that brings together researchers, practitioners, and academics in the field of Japanese studies from various countries. Serving as keynote speakers and panelists in the scientific seminar were Jamila, Ph.D., from Malaysia; Prof. Hiraishi Noriko from Japan; Prof. Loch Leaksmy from Cambodia; Prof. Pullattu Abraham George from India; and Dr. Lea Santiar from Indonesia. The seminar was also attended by lecturers and researchers from various universities throughout Indonesia, such as Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, Universitas Negeri Semarang, Universitas Dr. Hamka, and many others.
The two Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang lecturers who participated as presenters were Dian Bayu Firmansyah, S.Pd., M.Pd., who also serves as a central board member of the Asosiasi Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang Indonesia (ASPBJI), and Firda Zahratul Fuadah, S.Pd., M.Pd.. Both presented their latest research findings before international participants, as a concrete contribution to the development of Japanese language and language education studies in Indonesia.
Dian Bayu Firmansyah shared research addressing current issues in Japanese language teaching in Indonesia, with a focus on innovative approaches based on authentic materials to enhance student communication skills. Bayu sensei, who attended the seminar in person at the Unhas Hotel & Convention auditorium in Makassar, presented research on the use of authentic materials to enhance student communication skills. He stated,
“I attend the ICJSLE seminar every year because it is the only forum for presenting large-scale Japanese language research at the international level in Indonesia. Beyond being a venue for research dissemination, this seminar also serves as an opportunity for networking and strengthening connections among Japanese language researchers in Indonesia.”
Meanwhile, Firda sensei, who participated remotely via Zoom meeting, presented research discussing creative learning strategies to support the mastery of Japanese vocabulary and everyday expressions at the university level. She was also inspired by this forum.
“The ICJSLE seminar was my first experience as a Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang lecturer at Unsoed attending an international-scale scientific meeting. It has been very inspiring and has broadened my perspective on the development of Japanese language research in Indonesia.”
The participation of these two Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang lecturers from Unsoed demonstrates the study programme’s commitment to supporting the development of lecturer academic competence while expanding international networks. In addition to presenting their research, both actively engaged in discussions and exchanged insights with researchers from various countries, opening opportunities for future research collaboration.
