Purwokerto, May 21, 2025. Students from the Sastra Inggris program at Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (FIB Unsoed) are gaining direct work experience through an internship program at the translation bureau Artimure Translation. This program is an application of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) initiative, designed to strengthen students’ language competencies while training them to professionally navigate the dynamics of the language services industry.
During their internship, students engage in translating various types of documents such as academic articles, legal documents, and business materials. They also receive guidance from experienced senior translators, which further hones their technical skills and cultural sensitivity in translation. Students are also supervised by Dr. Asrofin Nur Kholifah, M.Hum, the Field Supervising Lecturer (DPL) who regularly monitors the internship program. The DPL will guide students throughout one semester to ensure the successful implementation of their work program.
Zahra, a sixth-semester student participating in this internship program, expressed that her experience at Artimure was invaluable and opened her perspective on the world of professional translation. “At Artimure, I learned that translation is not merely converting words from one language to another, but also understanding context, writing style, and communication purpose,” she said.
Meylinda shared a similar sentiment, feeling that the internship was highly relevant to her campus learning. “Interning at Artimure has made me more confident. I now understand how to apply the theories learned in class to real practice. I also learned to be more disciplined and trained in working with tight deadlines,” said Meylinda.
Rebecca Santi, owner of Artimure Translation, expressed her appreciation for the performance of interns from the Sastra Inggris program. “The students interning at Artimure demonstrate high enthusiasm for learning, quickly adapt, and are capable of working professionally. We are greatly helped by their contributions, and some of them have even been able to handle real projects with satisfactory results,” she said.

This program supports the achievement of the graduate profile for Sastra Inggris at FIB Unsoed as communicators and language professionals ready to meet global market needs, as students not only learn the technical skills of translation but also soft skills such as time management, work ethics, and teamwork abilities.
Through collaboration between the campus and translation bureaus like Artimure Translation, the Sastra Inggris program continues to be committed to bridging the academic world and the professional world, and equipping students with relevant and applicable experience.
