Purwokerto, May 19, 2025 – The internship program implemented in accordance with the curriculum of the Sastra Inggris Study Programme at Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (FIB Unsoed), enables students to innovate and create in accordance with the needs of their internship partners. One of the activities carried out by students of the Sastra Inggris Study Programme is the conception of an English language literacy activity that is needed by visitors to the Banyumas Regency Archives and Library Office (DinArpus).
This English language literacy activity is titled LaLa Learn, a concept for English language literacy activities for early childhood that consists of greeting and self-introduction activities as well as interactive games using a Total Physical Response (TPR) learning approach. Let’s do LaLa Learn was held for the first time on Monday, May 19, 2025, when DinArpus Banyumas received a visit from a playschool in the city of Purwokerto. This activity is expected to continue to be conducted when DinArpus receives visits from other schools or kindergartens/playgrounds.

This flagship work program conceived by ‘Alimatu Iyyasya, Yoggi Nanda Pratama, Angeli Rahma Humaira, and Putri Salwa Nabila is considered to provide benefits for DinArpus visitors, particularly visitors of early childhood education age. This is because the provision of material in the form of short videos greatly helps young participants understand the material and content provided, said ‘Alimatu Iyyasya.
The intern students also added that these participants successfully followed the instructions, understood the material content, and guessed the interactive games in the activity. Going forward, this program has the potential to increase interest in visiting DinArpus, since this institution not only offers friendly reading room facilities, but also a more interactive and educational experience. DinArpus is not only equipped with a very well-facilitated audio-visual building including a complete book collection, but also offers the organization of literacy activities, for example simple English language literacy, to its visitors.
The implementation of the Sastra Inggris internship at DinArpus is also inseparable from discussions between intern students and the Field Supervisor Lecturers (DPL) on duty. The DPL, namely Ririn Kurnia Trisnawati, M.A., and Tri Wahyu, M.Hum., appreciate the pioneering ideas of the flagship work program by students and fully support efforts in English language literacy.
Solid collaboration between students, DPL, and partner institutions makes this internship program not only a means of learning outside the classroom, but also a concrete step in fostering a spirit of literacy and innovation within the community.
