Purwokerto, 8 April 2025- In implementing the international cooperation established between Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman and University of Mindanao Digos Collage (UM DIGOS), Philippines, both parties agreed to conduct International Exchange Lecturers activities in the Even Semester of 2024-2025. The implementation of Exchange Lecturers began in April through May 2025. Coordination of International Exchange Lecturers activities was conducted in stages through exploration of the areas of expertise of lecturers from both parties as well as scheduling of courses accordingly.

As the inaugural implementation activity, two lecturers from Sastra Inggris, namely Ririn Kurnia Trisnawati, M.A. and Mia Fitria Agustina, M.A., initiated the implementation of cooperation activities in the teaching field, namely International Lecturer Exchange with University of Mindanao Digos Collage (UM DIGOS) through the courses Children’s Literature and Literary Criticism. Meanwhile, from UM DIGOS, Dr Ana Monteza had the opportunity to teach the same courses at Sastra Inggris FIB. The Exchange Lecturers activity, conducted online through the Zoom platform, focused on literature concentration courses with the hope that students of Sastra Inggris would gain international exposure to issues in children’s literature and literary criticism that are broader, current, and global.

The online lecture activities ran smoothly and students were able to experience positive and inspiring impacts. Among them, Sastra Inggris students left their testimonies regarding the implementation of this lecturer exchange: Being taught by Ms Ana was an interesting experience because she also teaches the children literature that exists in the Philippines (Theresia, English Literature 2023); This is an interactive and enjoyable teaching method for students, as they are given the opportunity to share their stories related to the lesson materials (Nesya, English Literature 2023); It was such a pleasant experience to have Dr. Ana in our class. Her cheerfulness lifts the spirit and makes the lectures fun (Mayfafa, English Literature 2023).
Meanwhile, from UM DIGOS students and Dr Ana provided testimonies regarding a classroom teaching system based on research outputs where students are taught how to conduct analysis through clear tools that have been published in journals. Dr Ana expressed testimony that I am impressed with the teaching materials provided by Ibu Mia and Ibu Ririn that are actually their own publication. This shows that they are really active in research and publication and they use their work to teach our students. Impressive.
The lecturer exchange between both parties is believed to have brought positive benefits to both lecturers and students at both study programs. In the future, this exchange activity will continue in the following semester.
