Yogyakarta, 20 November 2024 – Wildan, a 2023 cohort student of the D3 Bahasa Mandarin study programme at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (UNSOED), has brought honour to the university by securing First Place and Overall Champion at the Raja Hamengku Buwono X Drum Band Championship. This prestigious competition was held last weekend in Yogyakarta, sponsored by PT International Musicgear Corp.
The annual championship took place over two sessions, featuring competitions such as street parade and display in the first session, held on 18-20 October 2024. This year, the street parade was conducted in the evening along Jalan Malioboro, creating a magical atmosphere that captivated spectators. The event coordinator, Nolik Maryono, stated that this change was intended to enhance the appeal of the event.
A total of 51 participants from various regions, including Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Papua, competed in this championship. The Raja Hamengku Buwono X Trophy also awarded a special TNI Commander-in-Chief Trophy for the street parade championship, further enhancing the competition’s prestige.
PT International Musicgear Corp, as the main sponsor, supported the event for the second consecutive year. “We are pleased to contribute to an event that holds positive value both physically and in musical arts,” said Brando Tan, Director of PT International Musicgear Corp.
Wildan, as a member of the UNSOED Marching Band Team, played a crucial role in the team’s success. With a theme blending traditional and modern arts, their performance impressed both the judges and audience. The intensive training conducted over several months proved to be highly effective.
“This was an extraordinary experience. I am proud to have contributed to the team and brought home a trophy for UNSOED,” Wildan expressed with enthusiasm.
Destyanisa Tazkiyah, M.S., Head of the D3 Bahasa Mandarin Study Programme, appreciated Wildan’s achievement, noting that he excels not only academically but is also active in non-academic pursuits. “We are very proud of Wildan. His accomplishment demonstrates that our students are capable of achieving excellence in various fields,” she said.
