Purwokerto – As part of its commitment to maintaining and improving the quality of education, the Sastra Inggris Study Programme at Fakultas Ilmu Budaya (FIB) Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed) has completed the Learning Process Observation activity for the Odd Semester of the 2022/2023 Academic Year. This activity took place throughout the semester, from August to December 2022, with the final report submitted on December 30, 2022.
The Chair of the Quality Assurance Unit (Gugus Kendali Mutu/GKM), Dyah Raina Purwaningsih, S.S., M.Hum., stated that this activity aims to monitor the implementation of lectures, identify obstacles, and formulate improvement solutions to create an effective and quality teaching and learning process.
Observation Results
The evaluation results showed that all lecturers in the Sastra Inggris Study Programme have conducted lectures according to established standards, with 100% attendance across 16 meetings, including Midterm Examinations (UTS) and Final Examinations (UAS). Furthermore, classroom observations assessed lecturer performance based on several indicators, such as clarity of material presentation, use of varied learning methods, and implementation of Student-Centered Learning approaches.
From questionnaires completed by students, the lecturers obtained very good performance scores, with an average score above 3.6 (Very Good category). Lecturer Ika Maratus Sholikhah, S.S., M.A. recorded the highest score with 3.69.
GKM Team Recommendations
Although the learning process was rated as very good, the GKM Team provided several recommendations for further improvement, including:
- Learning Methods: Lecturers are encouraged to use more varied methods to increase student learning interest.
- Learning Materials: Lecturers are advised to provide more complete teaching materials, such as integrated handouts and PowerPoint presentations.
- Schedule Communication: Improved communication with students regarding changes to lecture schedules.
Conclusion
This observation shows that learning in the Sastra Inggris Study Programme has progressed well, in accordance with established standards. The Chair of the GKM Team hopes that this observation result can serve as a basis for continuous improvement to enhance academic quality in the future.
