[fib.unsoed.ac.id/, Wednesday 19/10/2022] On Monday, October 17, 2022, the D3 Sastra Inggris programme at FIB Unsoed held a Guest Lecturer Class with a practitioner speaker on the theme of Personal Grooming featuring Deddy Wijaya Simatupang, A.Md from Hotel Java Heritage Purwokerto. The event was opened with remarks from the Vice Dean of FIB for Education, Dr. Ely Triasih, S.S., M.Hum, and continued with a presentation from the speaker moderated by Indriati Hadiningrum, S.S., M.Pd.
In his presentation, Mr. Deddy conveyed the importance of Personal Grooming in the service industry, including hotels. People working in the service sector must truly master and be competent in Personal Grooming. During the event, students were equipped with highly useful knowledge regarding Personal Grooming in the hotel industry, including how to dress to hotel employee standards, how to speak and behave well when serving guests, and many other matters related to Personal Grooming. Many questions were raised by students regarding Personal Grooming, indicating their interest in working in hotels after graduation. At the end of the event, Septi Mariasari, S.Pd, M.Hum, as Programme Coordinator for D3 Sastra Inggris, asked Mr. Deddy to select attendees who met the standard criteria for Personal Grooming, and two students—one male and one female—who best met the Personal Grooming criteria were selected. Mr. Deddy also invited both of these students along with several other students including committee members to Hotel Java Heritage to learn more and practice Personal Grooming directly. Of course, this invitation was warmly welcomed by the students. The event concluded with a group photo.
