Saturday, 17 May 2025, the Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang (PBJ) study programme and the student association for Japanese language education (Himanikyou) held a simulation of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), which is the worldwide standard test for Japanese language proficiency. Held in classroom C.105, this JLPT simulation activity, which is one of the work programmes of Himanikyou’s education division, was attended by approximately 30 participants, from 08.00-11.30 WIB. As stated by Anggita Stovia, S.Pd., M.Pd., the student affairs advisor of the PBJ study programme, “This JLPT simulation activity is an effort by the study programme and the student association to facilitate and help participants prepare for the JLPT exams in July and December. Thus, the work programmes designed by the student association are not merely for entertainment, but must also be able to improve the academic ability of PBJ students,” said Anggita sensei, as she is affectionately called.

The JLPT simulation conducted was divided into three sessions: the first session was a vocabulary test (moji-goi), the second session was a grammar and reading test (bunpo, dokkai), and the third session closed with a listening test (chookai), which was adjusted to match the actual exam format. This provided a truly realistic exam-taking experience, especially for students who had never taken the JLPT exam before. From this simulation, participants felt many positive things, especially in terms of the experience of taking the JLPT exam and also the experience of learning about the types of JLPT questions tested, which were felt to be quite difficult. This experience will serve as a foundation for being better prepared to face the actual JLPT exam.

One week after the simulation is held, there will be a question review and discussion session for the JLPT simulation questions, which will be guided by PBJ lecturers to provide feedback on the results of the JLPT exam simulation that has been conducted. Continued success, PBJ Unsoed!
