(Purwokerto, June 2023) In an era of rapidly evolving education, society’s need for university graduates who possess relevant competencies that can be directly applied in the workplace is increasingly growing. In response to this need, higher education in Indonesia is developing an OBE-based curriculum. By implementing an OBE-based curriculum, study programmes can ensure that their graduates possess skills, knowledge, and attitudes that align with societal demands. The OBE concept has become a global trend in curriculum development. By implementing an OBE-based curriculum, study programmes at Fakultas Ilmu Budaya will be able to keep up with the latest developments in education and ensure that the teaching and learning methods applied are effective and relevant.
As part of the effort to implement an OBE-based curriculum, the Laboratorium Kajian Pengembangan Pembelajaran, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 successfully held a Curriculum Workshop titled “Curriculum Reformulation Based on Outcome Based Education (OBE)”. The activity took place at Aula Gedung Bambang Lelono, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman. This workshop was part of an effort to provide guidance to study programmes within Fakultas Ilmu Budaya in developing an effective and relevant OBE-based curriculum.
This workshop invited a competent resource person in the field, namely Bapak Tri Nugroho Adi, S.Sos, M.Si from LP3M Unsoed. The participants in this activity included programme coordinators, Quality Control Group representatives from each study programme, representatives of subject matter lecturers from each study programme, department heads, heads of GPM, as well as relevant leadership at Fakultas Ilmu Budaya. Their attendance demonstrated high enthusiasm and commitment to developing an OBE-based curriculum in their respective study programmes.
During the workshop session, the resource person provided detailed explanations about what an OBE-based curriculum means, the philosophical foundations underlying the implementation of OBE curriculum, its relationship with previously implemented curricula, and its connection with MBKM programmes. The resource person also provided guidance on the steps required by study programmes to develop an effective OBE-based curriculum that aligns with the latest developments in education. The discussion session, moderated by Dr. Dyah Tjaturrini, proceeded with enthusiasm and substantial questions from participants.
As a task in preparing the OBE curriculum, each study programme representative was assigned the task of reformulating the study programme profile, learning outcomes, and desired learning achievements. This aims to ensure that the curriculum formulated collectively by the study programmes aligns with the needs and expectations of stakeholders, both from within and outside Fakultas Ilmu Budaya.
This workshop was an extremely important momentum in the educational development journey at Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman. Through the reformulation of an OBE-based curriculum, it is hoped that graduates of study programmes at this faculty will possess competencies that align with societal demands and be able to contribute meaningfully to the workplace.
In his remarks, Wakil Dekan Bidang Akademik FIB, Dr. Chusni Hadianti expressed hope that through strong collaboration and synergy among study programmes, the Quality Control Group, subject matter lecturers, and relevant parties, an OBE-based curriculum at Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman can be realized soon. In this way, graduates of this faculty will be able to become professional individuals who are independent and ready to face various challenges in the era of globalization.
To close the event, Ketua Lab BangJar, Bapak Rosyid Dodiyanto, S.S., M.Hum. expressed gratitude to all parties who had actively participated in the Curriculum Workshop “Curriculum Reformulation Based on Outcome Based Education (OBE)” and invited everyone to work together in creating education that is of quality and relevant to the needs of the times, starting from each study programme at Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Unsoed.
