Purwokerto, October 19, 2025 – A proud achievement has once again been attained by the Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang (PBJ) study programme, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (FIB Unsoed). For the first time, through a grant proposal initiative drafted and submitted by the PBJ study programme team, Unsoed successfully obtained an international grant from the Eurasia Foundation (from Asia) to support the execution of a research project in the form of an international lecture series, as confirmed by the Notice of Decision (dated September 16, 2025) from Yoji Sato as Chairman of Eurasia Foundation (from Asia).
This research dissemination program, which will run for 15 sessions, is designed as a platform for cross-national and interdisciplinary academic collaboration. The event, titled “Eurasia Lecture series: Strengthening Cultural Diversity & Sustainable Development in Asian Community”, will be held from February to June 2026, according to the prepared syllabus. This activity is organized by the PBJ study programme in collaboration with Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (LPPM) Unsoed, and involves several faculties such as Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Fakultas Peternakan, Fakultas MIPA, Fakultas Ilmu Sosial Ilmu Politik, Fakultas Perikanan, and Fakultas Ilmu-ilmu Kesehatan.
In this program, researchers and academics from various countries, including Japan, South Korea, China, Malaysia, and Australia, will be invited as guest speakers to deliver thematic lectures to Unsoed students. The topics covered include language, education, culture, politics, health, and the environment within a global and interdisciplinary context.
This grant marks the first time Unsoed has received support from the Eurasia Foundation (from Asia), serving as an important milestone in academic internationalization efforts within FIB Unsoed, particularly for the PBJ study programme which is only in its second year since its establishment. The program initiative was spearheaded by Dian Bayu Firmansyah, S.Pd., M.Pd., a lecturer in the PBJ study programme, who also serves as the chairperson for the Eurasia Foundation (from Asia) lecture series at Unsoed. The program is under the direct supervision of the Head of LPPM Unsoed, Prof. Dr. Ir. Elly Tugiyanti, M.P, ASEAN Eng.

In his statement, Dian Bayu Firmansyah, S.Pd., M.Pd. expressed gratitude and optimism regarding this opportunity.
“Through this grant, we hope Unsoed students can gain global insights directly from international experts. This lecture series not only enriches academic understanding, but also opens up opportunities for cross-national collaborative research that will benefit scientific development at Unsoed,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Ir. Elly Tugiyanti, M.P, ASEAN Eng., as Head of LPPM Unsoed and representing Unsoed in this grant application, emphasized that this accomplishment is evidence of Unsoed’s growing research capacity and international network.
“LPPM Unsoed deeply appreciates the initiative of the PBJ FIB Unsoed lecturer team who successfully brought Unsoed into the Eurasia Foundation network. This cross-faculty collaboration is a strategic step to expand international partnerships and strengthen Unsoed’s reputation as an adaptive and globally competitive research university,” she said.
With this grant and support, it is hoped that the PBJ study programme and Unsoed as a whole will become increasingly active in developing international-standard academic activities and strengthening Unsoed’s standing in the global higher education arena.
