Purwokerto, October 24, 2024 – Fakultas Ilmu Budaya (FIB) Universitas Jenderal Soedirman celebrated its 10th anniversary with solemnity at Aula Bambang Lelono. Under the theme “Ten Years of Service: From Local to Global,” this event marked a decade of FIB’s contributions to education, culture, and research at both local and international levels.
The celebration began with an Open Senate Session chaired by FIB Senate Chair, Imam Suhardi, S.S., M.Hum. The event was also attended by Vice Rector for General Affairs and Finance, Dr. Kuat Puji Prayitno, S.H., M.Hum. In his remarks, he expressed gratitude and pride in the various achievements of FIB over the past ten years, as well as hope for continued development in supporting education rooted in local culture yet with a global perspective.
The main event of the anniversary celebration was the academic lecture delivered by Dr. Asrofin Nur Kholifah. In her lecture titled “The Contribution of Appraisal in Autobiography Translation,” Dr. Asrofin presented the importance of using appraisal theory in understanding and translating autobiographical works, particularly in the context of language and culture. She also emphasized how good translation can enrich readers’ perspectives and deepen cross-linguistic cultural understanding.
The thanksgiving celebration for FIB’s 10th anniversary was attended by members of the academic community of Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, faculty, students, and invited guests. The atmosphere was warm and full of camaraderie, serving as a moment of reflection on the faculty’s long journey in contributing to the academic world. Awards from the Vice Rector for General Affairs and Finance were presented to outstanding faculty members within FIB.
With the theme “Ten Years of Service: From Local to Global,” FIB is committed to continuing to bridge the rich local culture of Banyumas and Indonesia with global developments, and to prepare future generations capable of competing on the international stage while not forgetting their cultural roots.
