In an effort to preserve art and culture, the Laboratorium Seni dan Pertunjukan of Fakultas Ilmu Budaya at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman held a Seminar dalam Jaringan (Sedaring) Pawiyatan Series 2 with the theme “Grounding Traditional Dance Art as a Form of Service to Mother Earth”. The online seminar was held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
The Sedaring Pawiyatan #2 event was opened at 08:00 WIB by the Dean of Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Unsoed, Dr. Ely Triasih Rahayu, S.S., M.Hum. In her remarks, she enthusiastically welcomed activities aimed at promoting and preserving the arts and culture of the archipelago. Specifically, she highlighted Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Unsoed’s preparations to serve as a center and provide full support in preserving and developing Javanese art and culture.
The event featured two resource speakers who continue to work tirelessly to preserve and promote traditional dance art to other countries. The two speakers were Arma Dwipa Setya Dharma, S.Sn. and R. Oky Bima Reza Afrita, M.A. Arma Dwipa Setya Dharma, S.Sn. is an Indonesian dance and music artist who is currently working to ground and develop dance art in Toronto, Canada. The second speaker, R. Oky Bima Reza Afrita, M.A., is a specialist lecturer at Srinakharinwirot University, Thailand. In addition to his role as a specialist lecturer, Raden Oky Bima Reza Afrita also works as a choreographer. Although both speakers work in other countries, they remain steadfast in preserving traditional archipelago art in every endeavor.
The Sedaring Pawiyatan #2 event was conducted by the Laboratorium Seni dan pertunjukan online via Zoom Meet. In addition to gaining valuable knowledge and experience from the speakers, participants in the seminar will receive a certificate as proof of their participation. The event received positive feedback from participants, who suggested that similar activities be held in-person (luring) so that they could directly witness performance forms at Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Unsoed.
