Purwokerto, November 1, 2024 – Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Jenderal Soedirman held a workshop titled “From Idea to Publication: Practical Tips for Building a Lecturers’ Career in Research”, which took place over two days, from Friday to Saturday, November 1-2, 2024, at the Aula Bambang Lelono FIB Unsoed. The activity featured Prof. Dr. Sri Setyarini, MA.Ling., an expert in language learning, particularly on topics of Teaching English to Young Learners, Higher Order Thinking Skills, Critical Literacy, from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, as the main speaker.
In this workshop, Prof. Sri Setyarini shared practical tips for lecturers to develop their academic careers through quality research. She explained the importance of developing a career roadmap for functional position advancement, which can be achieved through implementing the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education). Additionally, topics such as lecturer certification, further studies, ministerial programs, and research grants were also discussed in this workshop.
Workshop participants received guidance on academic career development that includes strategies for developing research ideas through to producing publications in reputable international journals. In addition to the material presented, workshop participants also engaged in direct discussion regarding various challenges in research, ranging from idea formulation, methodology development, to techniques for writing publications according to international scientific standards. “pattern, framework, phenomena, outcome are references that must be established as the foundation for research,” she said in this workshop.
It is hoped that this activity can support lecturers and researchers in increasing their contribution to the academic field and encourage the advancement of research quality in Indonesia.
