Purwokerto, 5 November 2025 – In order to commemorate the 62nd Dies Natalis of Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed), Fakultas Ilmu Budaya (FIB) Unsoed organized the Banyumas Traditional Dance Competition for high schools/vocational schools/equivalents across Banyumas. The event took place in the Aula Gedung Bambang Lelono FIB Unsoed and was participated in by 14 traditional dance teams from various schools in the Banyumas region.
The event was officially opened by the Chairman of the 62nd Dies Natalis of Unsoed, Prof. Dr. Agus Nuryanto, S.Si., M.Si., who emphasized the important role of the younger generation in preserving regional cultural heritage.
“Through events like this, we do not only foster creativity, but also strengthen the cultural identity of Banyumas. I am proud to see the enthusiasm of the students in performing traditional dances with deep appreciation,” said Prof. Agus in his opening remarks.
This competition has become one of the highlight agendas of this year’s Unsoed Dies Natalis as it reflects FIB’s commitment to developing and preserving local culture. The participants performed typical Banyumasan dances with a touch of new creations while still maintaining traditional values.
After being evaluated by the board of judges, here is the list of winners of the 2025 Banyumas Traditional Dance Competition:
🏆 1st Place: SMA Negeri 1 Baturraden
🥈 2nd Place: SMA Negeri 4 Purwokerto
🥉 3rd Place: SMK HKTI 2 Purwareja Klampok
🎖️ 1st Runner-up: SMK Negeri 3 Purwokerto
🎖️ 2nd Runner-up: SMK Telkom Purwokerto
🎖️ 3rd Runner-up: SMA Negeri 3 Purwokerto
The winners received trophies, certificates, and coaching funds as a form of appreciation for their dedication to preserving the traditional dance art of Banyumas.
The chairperson of the competition committee stated that this event is expected to become an annual agenda for FIB Unsoed and strengthen the relationship between the world of higher education and secondary schools in Banyumas.
“We want to make FIB Unsoed a center for local cultural development. The support and enthusiasm of the participants are proof that regional arts are still alive and loved by the younger generation,” they said.
The festivity of this competition is also a tangible manifestation of the synergy between the university, schools, and the community in strengthening the cultural identity of Banyumas and fostering a sense of regional pride among students.
