[Thursday 20/10/2022] On Monday, October 17, 2022, the D3 Bahasa Inggris programme at FIB Unsoed held a Guest Lecturer Class for Practitioners with the theme Personal Grooming featuring Deddy Wijaya Simatupang, A.Md from Hotel Java Heritage Purwokerto. The event was opened with remarks from the Vice Dean of FIB for Education Dr. Ely Triasih, S.S., M.Hum and continued with a presentation from the speaker moderated by Indriati Hadiningrum, S.S., M.Pd.
In his presentation, Mr. Deddy conveyed the importance of Personal Grooming in the service industry, including hotels. People working in the service sector must truly master and be competent in Personal Grooming. During the event, students were equipped with very useful knowledge regarding Personal Grooming in the hospitality world, about how to dress according to hotel employee standards, speaking and behaving well in serving guests, and many other matters related to Personal Grooming. Many questions were asked by students related to Personal Grooming, indicating that they are interested in working at hotels after graduation. At the end of the event, Septi Mariasari, S.Pd, M.Hum, as Programme Coordinator of D3 Bahasa Inggris, asked Mr. Deddy to select attending students who met the Personal Grooming standard criteria, and one male and one female student who best met the Personal Grooming criteria were selected. Mr. Deddy also invited both students and several other students including committee members to Hotel Java Heritage to learn more and practice Personal Grooming directly. Certainly, this invitation was well received by the students. The event concluded with a group photo.
