Yogyakarta, August 31, 2024 – J-Lalite: Journal of English Studies, a journal published by the Sastra Inggris study programme, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, recently conducted a benchmarking study to four Sinta 2 accredited journals in Yogyakarta on July 29-30, 2024. This activity is part of the preparation for J-Lalite’s reaccreditation, which is expected to improve the quality and reputation of the J-Lalite journal.
The benchmarking study was conducted at various renowned institutions with high-quality journals, including:
1. Jurnal Adabiyat at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta
2. Journal of Language and Literature at Universitas Sanata Dharma
3. Jurnal Diksi and Jurnal Litera at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta
4. Jurnal Notion at Universitas Ahmad Dahlan
This visit aimed to share experiences, best practices, and strategies in managing scholarly journals. The J-Lalite editorial team hoped to learn various important aspects of journal management, ranging from manuscript management, peer-review processes, to strategies for increasing journal visibility and citation.
At each visit, the J-Lalite team was warmly welcomed and had the opportunity to engage in in-depth discussions with the editorial teams of the visited journals. Discussions covered various topics, including the use of electronic journal management systems, plagiarism handling, and effective ways to increase the number of quality article submissions.
“We are very grateful to have conducted this benchmarking study. We gained many valuable insights that we will apply in managing J-Lalite going forward,” said Ririn Kunia Trisnawati, Editor-in-Chief of J-Lalite. “With this visit, we hope J-Lalite can improve its quality and achieve better accreditation.”
Furthermore, this activity also opened opportunities to establish cooperation between journals and institutions, which is expected to strengthen academic networks and collaboration in research and publication.
This benchmarking study is a strategic step in J-Lalite’s efforts to achieve international standards in scholarly publication, as well as to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and research in the field of English language studies.
With the completion of this series of visits, the J-Lalite team returned to Purwokerto with renewed enthusiasm and various fresh ideas ready to be implemented for the advancement of the journal and the improvement of the quality of scholarly publications in Indonesia.
