[fib.unsoed.ac.id/, Saturday, 27/01/24] The International Partnership Team (IPT) and the IISMA 2024 mentoring team of Fakultas Ilmu Budaya have held a sharing session together with IISMA awardees. This sharing session event is part of a series of activities under the IISMA 2024 mentoring program at Fakultas Ilmu Budaya. After the previous two sessions focused on Duolingo English Test (DET) preparation, this session invited student aspirants of IISMA to listen to the extraordinary and inspiring experiences of IISMA awardees.
The event, held online via Zoom meeting at 9 a.m., was attended by lecturers mentoring the IISMA program as well as students interested in joining IISMA. The sharing session began with a presentation from Qyara Ananggadipa Anindya, a 2019 student of Sastra Jepang who became an IISMA awardee in 2022 at Hanyang University, Seoul, South Korea. The presentation was followed by Sabrina Yurizqa Ramadhanti, a 2020 student of Sastra Inggris who became an IISMA awardee in 2022 at Palacky University, Olomouc, Czech Republic. The presentation session was then continued by Shadine Azalia Viranda, a 2020 student of Sastra Inggris who became an IISMA awardee in 2023 at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, Malaysia. The three speakers shared numerous tips for preparing for IISMA, including tips on preparing for the English Proficiency Test, tips on essay writing, and tips on completing documents and administrative requirements. Not only that, the three speakers also motivated the participants of the sharing session and explained the courses taken at their host universities as well as the various academic and non-academic activities they engaged in while being IISMA awardees. The event continued with a question-and-answer session, and participants of the sharing session enthusiastically asked about study tips for the test, university selection, and preparation of the funding required.
The three speakers agreed that becoming an IISMA awardee is indeed a life-changing experience, an experience that allows one to step out of their comfort zone, connect with an inspiring community, learn to see many perspectives, and expand national and international networks. From these three speakers, we are encouraged to try our best and give our maximum effort, because big dreams must certainly be accompanied by great effort as well.
Hopefully this morning’s sharing session can inspire and spark the enthusiasm of Fakultas Ilmu Budaya students to be brave enough to try applying for the IISMA program.
