Purbalingga, May 15, 2025 – The Department of Communication and Information Technology (Dinkominfo) of Purbalingga Regency was selected as one of the internship partners for the Sastra Inggris study programme, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya (FIB), Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed) through the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program. Muhamad Sandy Syah Putra, a 2022 cohort student of Sastra Inggris, participated in an internship under the guidance of Mely Rahmawati, S.E., Head of General and Personnel Affairs at Dinkominfo Purbalingga for one semester. To ensure the internship activities ran smoothly, the Sastra Inggris study programme at Unsoed conducted monitoring and evaluation at Dinkominfo Purbalingga, guided by Dyah Raina Purwaningsih, S.S.,M.Hum as the Field Supervising Lecturer (DPL).

Sandy’s main responsibilities included writing daily news and preparing web promotional materials. Additionally, he was also involved in producing a podcast themed “Child-Friendly Regency.” During his internship, Sandy experienced benefits that could serve as preparation for his future. Before joining the Dinkominfo office, Sandy acknowledged he was not yet proficient in editing official correspondence, managing web pages, or designing promotional materials. “When I first arrived, I only understood writing theory,” he said. However, the daily routine under the supervision of Mely Rahmawati quickly changed those limitations. Now, Sandy has become skilled at composing news using the 5W+1H framework, preparing promotional scripts for the official agency website, and tidying up letter drafts before sending them.
For Dinkominfo Purbalingga, Sandy’s contribution was not merely supplementing technical staff, but also strengthening the position of the Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) in the inter-agency news portal ranking, particularly at the regency level. The more regularly current content is uploaded, the higher the ranking achieved. “Sandy’s participation helps us maintain the rhythm of publication and expand our reach in social media promotion; Dinkominfo consistently ranks second in the regency,” explained Mely. She added that Sandy is the type of intern student who quickly absorbs materials, takes initiative in finding news angles, and has a desire to continuously learn. This is evident from his ability to complete agency tasks, including when receiving criticism and making improvements without losing heart. Sandy’s presence during the internship has increased both the volume and quality of digital content released by the OPD.
Sandy experienced similar benefits. In addition to expanding his writing portfolio, he gained professional networks, access to production equipment, and practical insight into the editorial standards of government institutions. “This internship has honed my work discipline and professionalism; many course materials that I could directly practice at this institution,” he said.
Concluding his internship period, Sandy was given the next field task: covering the potential of remote villages in Purbalingga. The coverage will highlight infrastructure, creative economy, and the spirit of gotong royong (mutual cooperation) among residents, while also enriching the digital content bank of the regency. With his newly acquired skills, Sandy is optimistic about bringing stories from remote areas to the homepage of Dinkominfo’s website, ensuring every corner of Purbalingga receives a deserving platform.
