The Sastra Inggris Study Programme at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman deployed thematic community service (KKN) students to Tambaknegara Village in Banyumas Regency. The programme, which involved thirty-seven students, is one of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) programmes initiated by the Sastra Inggris Study Programme.
The community service activities took place from February to June 2023. Students were divided into six groups and guided by six Field Supervisory Lecturers (DPL). This thematic community service programme has a main theme of “Optimizing Tambaknegara village into a tourism village through social media promotion”.
This programme is expected to help realize the vision and mission of the village where the community service activities are taking place, said Dyah Rayna Purwaningsih, S.Hum., M.A., coordinator of the Sastra Inggris Study Programme at Unsoed and coordinator of this community service programme. Additionally, this programme is also expected to serve as an opportunity for students to apply their knowledge in the community and is a chance for students to learn community engagement.
