Penang, May 25, 2025 – Another remarkable achievement has been accomplished by a student from Fakultas Ilmu Budaya at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (FIB Unsoed). Naima Humaira Rum, a student of the Sastra Inggris programme, successfully won the Silver Award in the Piano Classic category at the Champs Universal Music Competition (CUMC) held in Penang, Malaysia.
This international-scale music competition was organized by Champs Universal and supported by PETACE (Penang State EXCO Office for Tourism and Creative Economy). The event brought together talented young musicians from various countries, competing in different music categories such as piano, vocals, drums, and other instruments. Naima performed in the Piano Age 19 & Above category and managed to impress the jury with her expressive performance and mature technique.

In her performance, Naima presented classical works with high difficulty levels, executed with excellent technique and deep emotion. The effort and dedication she demonstrated during her preparation period bore brilliant results, as evidenced by the prestigious award she won on the international stage.

Naima’s participation in this event was made possible through the support and guidance of various parties, both from within and outside the campus community. With full enthusiasm, she underwent an intensive training process while fulfilling her responsibilities as an active student at FIB Unsoed.

The Champs Universal Music Festival itself is an annual competition held in several stages. The elimination round that Naima participated in is part of the series leading to the grand final to be held in Bali in July 2025, as well as in Sydney, Australia in September. With the Silver Award win, Naima has the opportunity to continue her participation in the next stage.
This achievement further strengthens FIB Unsoed’s commitment to supporting the development of students’ interests and talents, not only in the academic field but also in arts and culture. The spirit of creativity and competition demonstrated by Naima represents the spirit of young people who are creative, brave, and full of dedication.
