Purwokerto, 16 September 2023 – Student Welfare Department Himpunan Mahasiswa Sastra Inggris (HMSI) Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed) has completed the 2023/2024 management period with various work programs successfully implemented. This department is responsible for advocating for issues or complaints from HMSI members and promoting solidarity among members.
During this period, the Student Welfare Department consisted of six active officers in carrying out their duties. They are Verosiana Vira Salsabila (Department Head), Alvira Putri Niktiawahyu Pratama, Khairunnisa Nisriinaa Ariij, Naila Fadhila, Putri Alma Nindita, and Zeta Sabila.
Work Program Implementation
- Advocacy Center: This program receives aspirations from Sastra Inggris students through Google Form and WhatsApp. All aspirations received have been collected and responded to or resolved.
- Englit’s Guide: This program provides information regarding scholarships, student exchanges, internships, competitions, and job vacancies through HMSI’s Instagram and Twitter accounts. During the period from March to November 2023, 27 pieces of content were posted.
- Chief’s Convo: Meetings with Sastra Inggris class leaders to discuss issues in each class. This activity was held three times, once online and twice in person.
- Trilitra: An activity introducing campus life and information about three concentrations in Sastra Inggris at Unsoed. This event was attended by 146 Sastra Inggris students.
- Introduction of Organization and Sastra Inggris Study Programme to New Students: This activity aims to introduce new students to HMSI and help them fill out their course registration.
- Alumni Talk: A webinar with alumni to discuss job prospects and career experiences. This activity was attended by 64 Sastra Inggris students.
During the implementation of work programs, the Student Welfare Department faced several obstacles such as lack of respondents to the Google Form, delays in poster creation, and difficulty determining event schedules. However, these obstacles were successfully overcome with various solutions such as re-uploading the Google Form link, periodically checking poster production, and contacting other students from classes that were difficult to reach.
The Student Welfare Department extends its gratitude to all parties who have contributed to the implementation of work programs during the 2023/2024 period. This accountability report is expected to serve as material for consideration and learning for future officers for a better HMSI Unsoed.
