A team of lecturers and students from Fakultas Ilmu Budaya conducted training on audiovisual teaching media production in Panembangan village, Cilongok District in May and June 2024. This activity is part of the Community Service Programme (PkM) under the Smart Village Supporting Service scheme funded by the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) of Universitas Jenderal Soedirman.
The activity aims to enhance teachers’ abilities in creating audiovisual teaching materials so that students are motivated to learn, particularly foreign languages. This is important because Panembangan village is a fishing village that also relies on tourism, so the community’s foreign language skills need to be improved.
The training was conducted twice (May 28 & June 20) by bringing in professional video content creators, held at the village hall and the auditorium of SD 1 Panembangan. The materials covered video shooting, editing, storage, and uploading. The event was attended enthusiastically by elementary and Islamic elementary school teachers in Panembangan village. As a result, the participating teachers were able to demonstrate their creativity by producing vocabulary teaching videos. Elementary and Islamic elementary school students were also involved in video production to foster enthusiasm and love for learning English as an international language.
The PkM team from Fakultas Ilmu Budaya and the community hope that this activity will be sustainable so that the quality of Panembangan village as a Smart Village continues to increase.
