Purwokerto, 13 October 2025 — Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (FIB UNSOED) organised a Socialisation of Academic Ethics Guidelines on Monday, 13 September 2025. The event, which was conducted online via the Zoom platform, was attended by the faculty leadership, lecturers, education staff, and the Tim Etika Akademik FIB UNSOED.
The event was opened by the Dean of Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Prof.Dr. Ely Triasih Rahayu, M.Hum, who in her remarks emphasised that the academic ethics guidelines serve as a moral and professional foundation for the entire academic community in implementing the tridarma (three pillars) of higher education. The Dean also stressed the importance of ethical awareness in maintaining dignity, responsibility, and civility within the academic environment.
Furthermore, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Chusni Hadiati,M.Hum, stated that the formulation of these guidelines is a form of the faculty’s commitment to strengthening the understanding, application, and enforcement of integrity values. Through these guidelines, it is hoped that the entire academic community will have clear guidance to act in accordance with academic norms and ethics.

The socialisation material was delivered by the Academic Ethics Guidelines Drafting Team, chaired by Dian Bayu Firmansyah, S.Pd.,M.Pd. The points presented included the background of the formulation, the legal basis, and the structure of the academic ethics document, the articles of academic ethics, rewards and sanctions, as well as the duties and authority of the Ethics Board. The main substance of the guidelines covers the ethical responsibilities of the academic community, mechanisms for rewards and sanctions, and the role of the Faculty Ethics Board in fostering and enforcing ethics within FIB Unsoed. The team also introduced links for collecting feedback and reporting ethics, which are openly accessible to the academic community as a form of transparency and public participation. The discussion session was interactive, featuring various questions and constructive feedback from the participants. Several issues raised included the application of the presumption of innocence principle in the violation investigation process, the protection of privacy for both reporters and reported parties, the criteria for evidence of violations, and the boundaries of dress decency in the academic environment. Responding to this, the faculty leadership asserted that all suggestions would be accommodated in the process of refining the document. The period for receiving feedback is scheduled to run for two weeks after the event, followed by the revision and finalisation stages of the guidelines.
The event concluded with an emphasis on the importance of fostering an academic culture of integrity within FIB UNSOED. The entire academic community is expected to be role models in maintaining professionalism and ethics, as well as actively providing feedback through the faculty’s official links.
