Purwokerto 25/08/25_ Located in Aula Bambang Lelono, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (FIB unsoed) on Monday, August 25, 2025, Prodi Sastra Inggris FIB UNSOED held a guest practitioner lecture inviting one of Sastra Inggris’ proud alumni as the speaker. Vivit Wijayanti, S.S is a Sastra Inggris alumnus who has pursued a career in the digital industry as a content and copywriter with experience in various fields, including scriptwriting, digital marketing communication, and brand strategy. The event, which was officially opened by the Dean of FIB, Prof. Ely Triasih Rahayu, S.S.,M.Hum, was attended by approximately 150 students from Prodi Sastra Inggris and delegates from each Prodi in FIB. In her remarks, the Dean emphasized the importance for literature students to understand career opportunities in the creative industry, including copywriting, as well as the importance for FIB alumni to maintain good relations with Prodi in FIB. This event is tangible proof of active alumni engagement in building the Prodi.

Under the topic Copywriting in the Wild: Practical Insights from Industry, Vivit Wijayanti, S.S shared the benefits of being a literature alumnus involved in the digital industry, especially Copywriting. Among these, skills such as analytical thinking, empathy, storytelling, persuasive skills, and creativity—which strongly grow and develop while studying Sastra Inggris at FIB—become essential values supporting a career in Copywriting. In addition, Vivit also presented basic copywriting materials that copywriters must possess, such as identifying the target audience, determining the copy’s objective, tone of voice, and selecting the right media platform. Not to forget, she also encouraged all Sastra Inggris students in attendance to start independent internships if they want to begin a career in the digital industry, as opportunities exist and can realistically start early. Vivit also highly appreciated the implementation of the Copywriting course in Prodi Sastra Inggris, which will strongly support the expansion of Sastra Inggris alumni’s career potential in the future.

The guest lecture session concluded with a hands-on practical exercise and a Q&A session. Participants demonstrated high enthusiasm during the discussion and practical exercise sessions. This public lecture provided insights that literature graduates can build careers in copywriting and, of course, other career opportunities in the digital industry.
