Purwokerto, July 28, 2025 – Two educators and seven students from the Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang Study Programme (PBJ) at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed) have been given the opportunity to participate in a Japanese Language Teaching Workshop organized by The Japan Foundation Jakarta. The activity will take place on August 14-15, 2025 at the Faculty of Language and Arts, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES).
This workshop aims to enhance the teaching capacity of Japanese language educators and prospective educators in Indonesia through practical, innovative, and communication-based approaches. The activity will involve participants in various interactive training sessions covering the use of teaching media, lesson planning, and teaching practice (microteaching) under the guidance of facilitator educators and Japanese Language Experts from The Japan Foundation.
Unsoed’s delegation in this activity consists of two PBJ educators, namely Dian Bayu Firmansyah, S.Pd., M.Pd. and Anggita Stovia, S.Pd., M.Pd., as well as seven students who have demonstrated high dedication in Japanese language teaching studies and practice. These seven students were selected through an internal programme selection process based on their academic ability and interest in the field of education.
Before the main workshop activity takes place, the two Unsoed educators will first participate in a benkyōkai (facilitator orientation session) organized by The Japan Foundation on Monday, July 28, 2025. This session is designed to equip the educators with a deep understanding of the workshop structure, their role as facilitators, and mentoring methods for students during the workshop. This activity is expected to strengthen the educators’ role in supporting the professional development of prospective Japanese language teachers.
“This benkyōkai session is very important as the initial step to understand the facilitator’s role in the workshop. We will bring a collaborative and reflective spirit for an optimal learning experience for our students,” said Anggita sensei, one of the educators who will serve as a facilitator.
Through active participation in this activity, PBJ Unsoed reaffirms its commitment to continuously improving the quality of education and developing competent human resources in the field of Japanese language teaching. Beyond serving as a learning opportunity, this activity also opens broader collaborative spaces between Unsoed and other higher education institutions, as well as The Japan Foundation as a strategic partner of the programme in Japanese language learning at the tertiary level.
