Purwokerto, July 24, 2025 – Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Jenderal Soedirman organised a two-day Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) Training on July 23–24, 2025. This activity aimed to strengthen the quality culture within the faculty and enhance the understanding of lecturers and study programme leaders regarding the higher education quality assurance cycle in accordance with the latest regulation, Permendikbudristek No. 53 of 2023.
The training featured speakers in the field of quality assurance, namely Prof. Ir. Juni Sumarmono, M.Sc., Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Bambang Tri Harsanto, M.Si., Dr. dr. Eman Sutrisna, M.Kes., and Prof. Mekar Dwi Anggraeni, S.Kep., Ners., M.Kep., Ph.D., as well as education quality practitioner Alpha Nadeira M., S.P., M.P. The participants consisted of faculty leaders, department heads, the faculty’s Gugus Penjaminan Mutu Fakultas (GPM) team, and the study programmes’ Gugur Kendali Mutu Prodi (GKM).
Day One: Strengthening Concepts and Formulating Standards
On the first day, speaker Prof. Juni Sumarmono explained the urgency of SPMI as an autonomous and sustainable system to create a quality culture in higher education. He emphasised that the implementation of the PPEPP cycle (Penetapan/Planning, Pelaksanaan/Implementation, Evaluasi/Evaluation, Pengendalian/Control, and Peningkatan/Improvement) must be carried out consistently to guarantee graduate quality and institutional sustainability.
The session was continued by Prof. Bambang Tri Harsanto, who presented the implementation of SPMI at Unsoed, including the formulation of quality standards relevant to the university’s vision and stakeholder needs. During the practical session, participants simulated the formulation of additional quality standards based on the characteristics of Fakultas Ilmu Budaya.
Day Two: Implementation to Continuous Improvement
The second day of training focused on the comprehensive implementation of the SPMI cycle. Dr. Eman Sutrisna reviewed the implementation and evaluation of quality standards, while Prof. Mekar Dwi Anggraeni presented the Internal Quality Audit (AMI) procedures as an essential instrument in controlling and reporting quality achievements.
Next, Alpha Nadeira M., S.P., M.P led the practical session on conducting Management Review Meetings (RTM) through the Jelita Unsoed system and drafting quality improvement plans. Through this session, participants gained not only theoretical understanding
but also practical skills in managing quality documents in accordance with national standards.
Faculty’s Commitment to Realising a Quality Culture
The Dean of Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Prof. Dr. Ely Triasih Rahayu, S.S., M.Hum., stated that this activity is a strategic step to ensure that all study programmes are prepared for accreditation and external quality audits.
“This SPMI training not only strengthens understanding but also fosters a collective commitment to building a sustainable quality culture. We hope that all lecturers and study programme administrators can consistently apply quality standards as part of excellent academic governance,” she said in her closing remarks.
Through this training, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya reaffirms its commitment to continuously improving the quality of education, research, and community service in a measurable and sustainable manner to realise its vision as an outstanding faculty at both national and international levels.
