Fakultas Ilmu Budaya (FIB) Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed) continues to develop its international network by exploring cooperation with the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Prince of Songkla University (PSU) Thailand. The meeting held on 3 September 2024 at the Bu-nga Sari Room, 2nd floor of the Faculty of Liberal Arts building at PSU, was an important occasion to strengthen relations between the two institutions.
From FIB Unsoed, Dr. Chusni Hadiati, S.S., M.Hum., serving as Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, presented the FIB Unsoed profile, including the flagship programs offered. In his presentation, Dr. Chusni highlighted the potential for academic and research cooperation between the two faculties, which is expected to be mutually beneficial for the development of knowledge and human resources at both institutions.
Additionally, the Program Coordinator of S1 Sastra Inggris at Unsoed, Dyah Raina Purwaningsih, S.S., M.Hum., also shared the opportunities for cooperation between the Sastra Inggris program at Unsoed and the Faculty of Liberal Arts at PSU. She emphasized the importance of student and faculty exchange, as well as collaboration in cross-cultural and linguistic research.
The Program Coordinator of S1 Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris at Unsoed, Slamet Riyadi, S.S., M.Pd., also discussed the potential for collaboration between his program and PSU, particularly in developing innovative English language teaching methods that are relevant to global challenges.
Kristianto Setiawan, S.S., M.A., Program Coordinator of the D3 Bahasa Inggris program at Unsoed, also explored opportunities for cooperation with PSU in enhancing the capacity of D3 students through exchange programs and curriculum collaboration that support graduate readiness for the international job market.
From Prince of Songkla University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Zainee Waemusa, Associate Dean for International Relations and Communication Affairs, welcomed this cooperation plan. Along with his team, consisting of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kemang Sinwongsuat (Associate Dean for Research, Innovation, and Social Responsibility), Asst. Prof. Dr. Anchana Rukhthong (Associate Dean for Educational Affairs), Asst. Prof. Dr. Sita Musigrusi (Associate Dean for Student Development and Alumni Relations), Asst. Prof. Dr. Naratip Jindapitak (Chairperson of BA Program in English), and Mrs. Arunpon Saiya from the International Relations and Communication Affairs Section, they expressed enthusiasm about the various opportunities that could be explored together.
During this meeting, both parties also discussed the draft Implementation Arrangement document that encompasses collaboration between three study programs at FIB Unsoed and the Faculty of Liberal Arts at PSU. It is hoped that this cooperation can be realized soon through various activities such as student exchange, joint research, and international seminars.
This step is part of FIB Unsoed’s ongoing efforts to expand international cooperation and improve the quality of education and research through collaboration with foreign institutions.
