Purwokerto, September 5, 2024 — A total of 25 students from the Mandarin Programme class of 2022 at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman participated in a Human Resources (HR) Training for the Tourism and Travel Industry as preparation for internships in the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) programme. The training was held on Thursday morning at D’Garden Hall & Resto, Purwokerto.
The training featured experienced speakers in their respective fields, including Yuni Astuti, owner of BPW Sahabat Wisata; Yudhi Priyono and Setyo Adi Utomo from PT Palawi Risorsis; and Dhimas Nurseto Adi from the Youth, Sports, Culture, and Tourism Office (Dinporabudpar) of Banyumas Regency. The speakers provided insights and knowledge regarding the tourism industry, particularly in the tour and travel sector, which is highly relevant to the field of study pursued by the students. The objective of this training is to better prepare students to face the world of work, especially in the increasingly developing tourism sector. Armed with competencies aligned with their field of study—Mandarin Language and Travel and Tourism Management—students are expected to be better prepared for the MBKM internship programme they will undertake.
Beyond equipping students with practical knowledge, the training also aims to introduce the real working culture in the tourism industry. Students were given the opportunity to engage in direct dialogue with practitioners, enabling them to gain a deeper understanding of the dynamics and challenges in the world of work. Moreover, the training also provided an opportunity for students to offer input and feedback to the Mandarin Programme regarding curriculum adjustments that better align with the demands of the workplace. This is expected to produce graduates who not only master theory but also possess practical skills that meet industry needs.
With this training, students are expected to be more prepared and confident in undertaking internships and facing the challenges of the real world of work.
