Laboratorium Kajian Bahasa, Sastra, dan Budaya, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, UNSOED, held a book discussion event on The Face of Fashion: Cultural Studies in Fashion by Jennifer Craik on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. This event was organized to promote reading culture and scholarly inquiry among students and members of FIB Unsoed.
The book discussion activity held at Aula Bambang Lelono began at 1:00 PM. The speaker was Dr. Lynda Susana W.A.F, S.S., M.Hum from the Sastra Inggris study programme at FIB Unsoed, and the event was moderated by Aldi Aditya, S.Hum., M.Hum. from the Sastra Indonesia study programme at FIB Unsoed. A total of 78 participants attended, consisting of students and faculty members from Fakultas Ilmu Budaya.
During the event, speaker Dr. Lynda Susana presented an engaging discussion of the book The Face of Fashion: Cultural Studies in Fashion, covering fashion culture, its development, and the position of fashion in society. According to Dr. Lynda, the book discusses how elite fashion systems designed for specific groups can operate alongside and compete with everyday fashion or daily fashion that breaks down the structure and systems of elite fashion.
At the conclusion of the event, it was concluded that fashion is not something static or fixed, but rather something highly dynamic. Through this event, it is hoped that students will benefit and develop cultural activities at Fakultas Ilmu Budaya.
