Purwokerto, 24 September 2025 – The S1 Sastra Jepang Study Programme, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (FIB Unsoed), organized a Practitioner Guest Lecture featuring representatives from Advance Corp Japan as speakers. This event took place on Wednesday, 24 September 2025, from 15:00 to 17:00 WIB, within FIB Unsoed.
The event was attended by 1st and 3rd-semester students of the Sastra Jepang Study Programme and aimed to provide practical insights into the professional world in Japan, as well as introduce opportunities for further study and internships in the Land of the Rising Sun.
In the session delivered by Fujiwara-san as the representative of Advance Corp Japan, students were introduced to various pathways for continuing education and working in Japan, including the graduate school system (graduate school system), the research student program, and internship mechanisms in various Japanese companies and hotels.
Fujiwara-san explained in detail the requirements for interning in Japan, such as being an active student at a foreign university, the relevance of the field of study to the internship activities, and the process of obtaining a specific activity visa (specific activity visa). He also highlighted the importance of Japanese language proficiency, work ethic, and mental readiness in facing the Japanese work environment, which highly values professionalism and hospitality (hospitality).
Through an interactive presentation, Sastra Jepang Unsoed students were also invited to understand the differences in work culture and the importance of adaptation in the Japanese industrial world, particularly in the hospitality and tourism sectors such as in Oita (Beppu and Yufuin) and Kumamoto (Aso), where Advance Corp Japan collaborates with various renowned resort hotels.
This activity is expected to broaden students’ horizons regarding international career opportunities and build cooperation networks between Unsoed and educational institutions as well as industries in Japan.
“Through this practitioner lecture, students not only learn the Japanese language and culture, but also prepare themselves to face the global professional world upon graduation. This lecture is also a golden opportunity for students to interact and gain direct insights from practitioners who align with the graduate profile of Sastra Jepang,” said a representative of the supervising lecturers from the Sastra Jepang Study Programme, FIB Unsoed.
This practitioner lecture activity is held annually by the Sastra Jepang study programme to equip students so that they will be better prepared to enter the professional world.
