Purwokerto, July 9, 2024 – Fakultas Ilmu Budaya (FIB) Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed) held an evaluation and coordination meeting regarding collaboration activities with Dinas Arsip dan Perpustakaan Daerah (Arpusda) of Banyumas Regency. The meeting was attended by representatives from Arpusda and the FIB collaboration team.
Representatives from Arpusda who attended included Restiti Rahayu, SE (Head of Library Division), Fuad Zein Arifin, S.Pd (Senior Expert Librarian), Irma Suryani, SE., M.Si (Senior Expert Librarian), Drs. Indra Syamsu (PPKP Coordinator and Junior Expert Librarian), Dwi Susanti S.I.Pust (First-level Expert Librarian), Entik Henarusti S.I.Pust (First-level Expert Librarian), and Helmi Ardian, S.Kom (Library Division Staff).
During the meeting, Dinas Arpusda Banyumas expressed the need for more literature and cultural activities such as book reviews, book launches, literary discussions, book day/language month activities, as well as literature and culture exhibitions. Additionally, Arpusda Banyumas also hoped for the involvement of FIB faculty members as speakers in various activities organized by Arpusda.
In response, the FIB collaboration team and Dr. Ely triasih Rahayu, S.S., M.Hum., as Dean of FIB Unsoed, expressed their readiness to continue the collaboration. The Dean of FIB stated that the faculty is prepared to send lecturers as speakers for activities in the fields of language, literature, and culture. Furthermore, the Language, Literature and Culture Laboratory of FIB will be involved in implementing collaboration activities such as book reviews and others.
The next program plan to be implemented is a collaboration on foreign language training programs organized by Arpusda with tutors or instructors from FIB, both faculty members and students/alumni. This is expected to strengthen synergy between the two institutions in improving the quality of education and cultural development in Banyumas Regency.
Several suggestions and responses from various study programs at FIB were also presented during the meeting. The Program Coordinator of S1 Sastra Inggris, Dyah Raina Purwaningsih, S.S., M.Hum., gave a positive response to student internship activities in the MBKM program for four months at Dinas Arpusda and hopes that these internship activities can continue. Meanwhile, the Program Coordinator of S1 Sastra Jepang, Idah Hamidah, S.S., M.A., raised a question regarding the requirement for submission of written works in hardcopy form, which becomes a constraint due to the paperless culture applied in the program.
The Sastra Jepang program welcomed the Japanese culture introduction activities in schools organized by Arpusda. The Program Coordinator of Mandarin, Destyanita Tazkiyah, D.Ed., M.S., expressed readiness to facilitate Mandarin language training and translation of products or books in Mandarin language. The D3 Bahasa Inggris program also hopes for guidance for student interns and hopes that student products such as tourism guide books can be displayed at Arpusda.
Meanwhile, the Program Coordinator of S1 Sastra Indonesia, Dr. Siti Junawaroh, S.S., M.Hum., stated that internship activities at Arpusda are highly relevant to archival and library management courses, and can convert several courses into more applied activities. The Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris program has also submitted works and scholarly articles as a form of recognition of FIB’s academic community to be displayed at Arpusda.
This evaluation and coordination meeting is expected to strengthen collaboration between FIB Unsoed and Dinas Arpusda Banyumas Regency in order to improve the quality of education, culture, and literacy in Banyumas Regency.
