Purwokerto, July 25, 2025, Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang Study Programme, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (PBJ FIB Unsoed), has taken a strategic step in international development by initiating cooperation with ECC Company, a renowned multinational company operating in the language education sector based in Osaka, Japan.
ECC (Education through Communication for the Community) is a language education institution founded by the late Isamu Yamaguchi in 1962. Since its establishment, ECC has maintained a strong commitment to providing quality language education, with the basic philosophy that only effective and meaningful language training can touch the hearts of learners. With strict standards in teacher recruitment and training, as well as a solid student support system, ECC has become one of Japan’s leading education companies.
This cooperation initiative is undertaken as part of the PBJ Unsoed Study Programme’s efforts to expand its international network, create internship and career opportunities for students in the global Japanese language education industry, and improve learning quality through institutional collaboration.
According to Dian Bayu Firmansyah, S.Pd., M.Pd., Head of the PBJ Study Programme Cooperation Team: “ECC possesses values and an educational vision aligned with the spirit of PBJ Unsoed, particularly in building the quality of human resources and professionalism of language teachers. We see great potential in this cooperation, not only in the academic realm, but also in the form of social contribution and strengthening the capacity of graduates.”
ECC focuses not only on business aspects but also emphasizes a balance between management and education (50:50), and demonstrates commitment to corporate social responsibility through the ECC Save the Earth Campaign. Values such as care for society, integrity, and professional ethics form the foundation of the company’s operations, as reflected in their ethics guidelines and business code of conduct.
In the near future, PBJ Unsoed and ECC will hold follow-up meetings to formulate concrete forms of cooperation, including potential collaboration in the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education) areas, such as: student internship programs, alumni recruitment, and joint social and cultural activities.
This cooperation initiative is expected to be the first step toward wider collaboration with positive impact, both for the Unsoed academic community and the global community in the field of Japanese language education.
