[fib.unsoed.ac.id/, Saturday, 29/10/22] On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya (FIB) Unsoed held a commemoration ceremony for the 8th Anniversary of FIB. The Thanksgiving ceremony took place at the Aula Bambang Lelono FIB Unsoed. Present were the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation & Public Relations, the Dean of FIB along with the Vice Deans, the Deans of Unsoed, Heads of Institutions, Lecturers, Administrative Staff, students, and guests.
Rector of Unsoed Prof.Dr.Ir Akhmad Sodiq M.Sc., Agr, through the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation & Public Relations, Dr. Sos Waluyo Handoko S.IP.,M.Sc., conveyed in his written remarks that one characteristic of the globalization era is multicultural encounter. There are no more geographical boundaries that can prevent the meeting of ideas, concepts and intercultural thoughts. Cultural contestation and hegemony have become inevitable. “Through information technology called the internet, social media and various cyber communications that exist today, we have become interconnected with one another, creating a new civilization that is truly not something to be opposed, but rather how it can be utilized for the greatest benefit,” said the Rector.
Furthermore, the Rector conveyed that it is the responsibility of the FIB Unsoed academic community to utilize this momentum to produce graduates and research results that address the challenges and needs of globalization. This certainly requires an academic system that is outcome-oriented as well as visionary. “Through the momentum of this 8th Anniversary, we invite all members of FIB Unsoed to move together in unified steps of Independence, Progress and Global Reach. Making FIB Unsoed part of change that is always better over time”.
The event also featured a scholarly oration by Dr. Lynda Susana WAF, M.Hum, a new Doctor in the Sastra Inggris Program of FIB Unsoed. Dr. Lynda delivered an oration titled “Politics of the Body: The Intertwining of Gender and Sexuality in Gendered Subjects”.
Dance and gamelan performances also enlivened the event. The event concluded with a homily and collective prayer by Ustadz Andi Alif Rahman Saleh, Lc., M.A.
In addition, the event was also enlivened by an expo of the Student Entrepreneurship Program (PMW) FIB 2022.
